Adjustable Rail Clips

Design & Installation

Our Philosophy

The HoldFast philosophy is to work closely with civil engineering consultants and civil contractors to achieve the most cost-effective solution to a rail track problem.

Understanding the Uniqueness of Every Project

While understanding the theoretical solution to crane track problems is important, it must be balanced by practical knowledge gained in the field, of the causes and effects of deflection, shear forces, rail wear, deterioration of grouts and resilient pads, to be able to provide a comprehensive service.

But knowledge of clips and rails is not confined to that area alone. It is important to understand the machines which run on them, and the different types of forces imposed on rail tracks.

Often a rail problem first manifests itself with crane operation with the blame put onto manufacturers for excessive wheel wear, gearbox failure and overheated motors.

No two contractors are the same and the choice of rail track system for a specific job depends on many factors, which cover ground conditions, type of machinery, seismic conditions, corrosive and abrasive conditions.

Expertise and Practical Knowledge

HoldFast advise, with the customers requirements in mind, on the best design and installation procedures such as long life and minimum demands on maintenance.

The HoldFast track technology is determined by progressive thinking based on the latest technical advances to offer as near as possible a stress-free rail track system designed and installed based on your requirements.

Previous Projects

Cross Rail Depot

The HoldFast clips were used in the Cross Rail Depot train care sheds where the rails are on raised concrete plinths allowing maintenance access to the underneath of the trains.

Ministry of Defence

These photographs show a 1700 metre long rocket launcher for the Ministry of Defence. HoldFast had to design this twin track so as to give lateral alignment adjustment of 22mm, but in seamless movements to any part of a millimetre – this was readily achieved. In addition, double base plates for vertical stepless adjustment were required, taking into consideration earth curvature, again to an infinite amount. This lateral and vertical adjustment is necessary at any time due to land settlement, shift, and of course rocket thrust.

Sewage Works and Water Treatment Facilities

Many of these systems utilise a rotating arm on top of the tanks that discharge the waste water onto the filter media. These are supported on a circular track that has precise dimensions which is why adjustable clips are required to accommodate these dimensions.
